Don't use keys:load.
Where did you read about that? I should delete it.

It seems crazy that installing the pool would make your full node crash.
The pool only touches the Api. It doesn't do anything that would make the full node crash.

They only attack ap2. I think it might be an altruistic attack to spread the hashrate out. So ap2 won't have >50%.

Maybe AP2 is not under attack, rather it is because there are too many people running miners at once and the server can't keep up with all that traffic.

AP2 is designed to give the same number of shares per minute to each miner no matter how little hash power they have.

Maybe if OK tried running my open source mining pool software, the attack would stop.

you don't need any veo to participate in encrypted messaging, but you still get all the security of using tools that protect the Amoveo network.
If it is possible to intercept and decode a message encrypted this way, then that means it is possible to steal any veo sent by the Amoveo lightning network.

the channel deosn't necessarily need to be opened for the whole length of the market betting, does it?
Z
06:43

The blockchain can't enforce the outcome until the Oracle is closed
06:45
If the blockchain can't enforce anything. Then there is no point in using a channel
JM
06:46
J M
maybe this is naive but why is the fee for opening a channel dependant on the time that it's open?
06:46
as opposed to an absolute value for opening/closing
OK
06:46
O K
Isn't it up to you?
MF
06:46

i think that this is up to the node operator

OK
07:29

OK
07:31
O K
I'm willing to use it if you can get it working
07:31
I don't mind if a small amount of veo is locked up if your fee is low
Z
07:33
Zack
The server has a dictionary of it's open channel, and it looks up each channel with your pubkey.
So the server will only let you make on channel per pubkey.

But you could use that same pubkey to make a different channel with a different server. You can save your multiple channel states to file.
JM
07:33
J M
i see
07:34
someone else try then
OK
07:35
O K
I will shortly
JM
07:35
J M
i reduced the time/value fee but i already made a channel with this account on that server. i can make another one but i'll have to move some veo
Z
07:37
Zack
you can see the time value for this server in the light node, so the server can't secretly over-charge you
07:37
you can close your channel pretty easily
JM
07:41
J M
oh, i see that now
OK
07:41
O K
A channel is opened, a bet is placed in a market, the market expires with the bet unmatched. The money is automatically returned for use to the owner in the channel?
Z
07:43
Zack
if the match expires? what does that mean?
OK
07:44
O K
"match expires"? I didn't say that I think you misread me
07:44
if the market expires
07:45
the bet was never matched
Z
07:45
Zack
oh, the time limit you write when you created the new market on your server
OK
07:46
O K
When looking at a market on explorer.html it says "Expires at height"
Z
07:47
Zack
oh, if the bet wasn't matched in the order book
OK
07:47
O K
Exactly
Z
07:47
Zack
Until the bet is not matched you can undo the bet at any time from the light node interface
07:48
so you would just undo the bet to recover your funds
OK
07:48
O K
Well, that doesn't exactly answer the question --
07:48
If the market is expired, is it needed to undo the bet?
Z
07:48
Zack
You are wondering how the smart contract is programmed to handle this case?
OK
07:49
O K
Yes I'm wondering about the expected behaviour
Z
07:51
Zack
https://github.com/zack-bitcoin/amoveo/blob/master/apps/amoveo_core/priv/market.fs#L116

The smart contract can be changed very easily without doing any hard update. I spent a lot less time writing these parts compared to the others.
OK
07:52
O K
If a channel is opened, and in the "how long should the channel last" field, someone puts 4000. After 4001 blocks, what has happened to the channel?
Z
07:52
Zack
the output of each smart contract is 3 numbers.
a nonce, the amount of money that goes to pubkey2 (the rest goes to pubkey1), and a delay.
The delay is how much time the other peer has to provide more evidence to stop the channel from closing.
07:54
it looks like there are 2 cases that get handled.
Either the oracle is closed, or it is not. which is the one you are asking about?
07:54
this is for an unmatched trade in the order book
OK
07:54
O K
Correct
07:54
I suppose, start with the simpler of the 2 cases
Z
07:56
Zack
First looking at the case with an unsettled oracle.

`Expires @ Period @ + int 2000 +
int 0
int 10000 MaxPrice @ -`

The first number is the block height when we will be able to close the channel. It has to stay open till then in case your partner can provide counter evidence.
It is (the expiration date for the channel) + (the period of how often batches of trades get matched in the order book) + 2000.
07:58
the 2nd number is the nonce. it is zero.
Which means this final state is very low priority. If there is any other way to run the contract, that other way will probably be dominant (unless it is also a zero).
07:59
The third number is how much money is transfered. This looks like it is just returning everyone's money as if the bet never happened.
OK
08:00
O K
So,
Z
08:01
Zack
This second case is if the oracle has been settled
`Period @
int 1
int 10000 MaxPrice @ -`
08:02
The third number is the same as the other time.
It looks like the bet is just undone.
OK
08:04
O K
I'm looking at RvibrpOijW1S9UyAvCW2q6uR/0OMgML/bHbOriSBvGk= on your node
Z
08:06
Zack
looks like Mr Flintstone never removed his expired trades
OK
08:06
O K
One is mine
Z
08:07
Zack
are you trying to get your money out? do a trusted sync of channel data in the light node if you lost your copy. My node should still have a copy.
08:07
I promise I didn't mess with it
OK
08:07
O K
I know you didn't but I also have mine
08:07
I'm just wondering, as we go since this is a first time for me
08:08
The chart will begin to disappear,
08:08
Maybe for the future when an oracle expires, a snapshot should be recorded?
Z
08:09
Zack
what for?
OK
08:09
O K
For history
Z
08:09
Zack
every moment is interesting for history, right?
OK
08:09
O K
Well, that'd be even better, if you're suggesting an animation
Z
08:09
Zack
I was thinking of keeping a record of the price that gets matched with each batch
08:10
Keeping a record of all the open trades for all of history might get a little big
OK
08:10
O K
Sure, okay, well anyway
08:10
So am I needing to do anything with the market? or just the channel
Z
08:10
Zack
you need to copy-paste the market id into the wallet.html page
08:10
oh, my mistake
Z
08:10
Zack
you don't need the explorer.html page at all
08:11
just load your channel state into the wallet.html page
OK
08:11
O K
I have done that
Z
08:11
Zack
then a button will appear to cancel the trade

08:11
O K

08:12
Ok I will try
08:12
But doesn't it seem like the amount is already in the channel balance?
08:12
Shame on me, but I can't remember how much I put in to begin with
08:12
Oh I see, server balance
08:12
That's my money that's tied up?
K
08:13
Kale
not per 100 g's output is?
OK
08:13
O K
Your channel state and my channel state appear identical
08:14
after get headers
08:14
your balance : 0.22500001server balance: 0.27499998time left in blocks: -5733
08:14
Just to be clear, I should not need to paste the market in the market field to use the update balance of off chain assets button?
Z
08:14
Zack
the server balance is money that is not tied up. it is money that the server has available to lock into a contract
08:15
There should be a way to display a list of all the contracts, and next to each unmatched trade is a button to cancel the contract.
JM
08:16
J M
i'm getting an error trying to click 'make bet'
08:16
possibly it's because my channel isn't long enough

This is probably just because everyone is used to the faster block times, but we just had that difficulty adjustment

Turing complete state channels, are there details out there?

https://github.com/zack-bitcoin/chalang
here is the smart contract language
11:00
https://github.com/zack-bitcoin/amoveo/blob/master/docs/design/transaction_types.md
Here you can read about the transaction types that make up channels.
11:01
https://github.com/zack-bitcoin/amoveo/blob/master/apps/amoveo_core/src/consensus/trees/channels.erl
Here you can read about the on-chain datastructure that is channels.

Thanks will go thru these

R u familiar with L4 (Jeff coleman n Co) proposal for generalised state channels?
Z
11:13
Zack
I just read about them because you mentioned it. Thanks for sharing.

anyone think the trx fee is too high?
IP
15:13

In reply to this message
well i guess you can change it in your node code
S
15:19
Sy
no you cant
15:19
the tx fee should decrease in about 1000 blocks i think
15:19
@truvvor keys.db is your pubkey, i want the blockchain
15:21
Deleted Account
I think we cant change the tx fee by modifiying the node code only, I have found this configuration in my node
15:22
Well, I think it's not the way it seems
S
15:31
Sy
thats why i started an oracle bet to half tx fees
15:31
like i said, about 1000 blocks left
15:31
but you will have to modify the js files for the wallet (or zack) since the 12500 is hardcoded there....
S
16:22
Sy
how can i modify env variables?
{ok, BB} = application:get_env(amoveo_core, download_blocks_batch),
{ok, BM} = application:get_env(amoveo_core, download_blocks_many),
16:23
probably set_env but they have to be defined somewhere to begin with...right?

Zack thanks

about my tx fee oracle, do i have to close it or will it happen automaticly?
Z
20:49
Zack
In reply to this message
Someone needs to close it.
Then you will want to do the Oracle-winnings and oracle-unmatched txs to get your money out
S
20:49
Sy
how can i check when an oracle can be closed?
20:49
and how i get the full id? oracle:all(). cuts the end off i think
Z
20:50

Use the gui interface I added to the light node

okay but i need the oracle id?
Z

You can look up by oracle ID
20:51
666 members.
S
20:51
Sy
how do i get the oracle ids?
20:51
oracles:all(). is cut off
OK
20:52
O K
In reply to this message
Why not list them like the markets?
Z
20:52
Zack
The light node can only verify merkle proofs
S

{oracle,<<139,13,139,179,174,16,227,170,226,123,178,114,

5141,1,50}},
20:52
which one is the id?
Z
20:52
Zack
The I'd for markets are the same oid used in the light node
20:53
I have linked to the records.hrl page before
20:54
The I'd needs to be Base64 encoded
S
20:54
Sy
so...the node cant tell me right now?
Z
20:55
Zack
The thing immediately after the word "oracle" is the I'd
S
20:56
Sy
which is still cut off
Z
20:57
Zack
Store it in a variable, then do Base64 encode
S
20:58
Sy
or i just wait for a fix?
Z
20:58
Zack
This is a fix.
Now the gui tells you more info.
S
20:59
Sy
this is a workaround
20:59
a fix is something thats actually deplyoed by the dev
20:59
making things work as you need them
Z
21:00
Zack
Yes, I recently deployed the gui interface for oracles
S
21:00
Sy
21:00
which needs an input the ordinary user cant get
OK
21:00

lol

You can just use oracles:all and forget about the gui if you prefer
