Yes, when txs get lost they get "reprocessed" and sent again. Looks like a bunch of those were lost and reprocessed:
10:46
Z
10:46
Zack
so you over-paid the workers?
10:47
instead of making a new tx, you should re-publish the old tx until it becomes invalid.
10:47
I guess
MH
10:47
Mandel Hoff
Not. I monitor blocks and will only resend payments after X blocks have gone by without finding the matching payout tx that I'm expecting.
Z
10:47

We need consistent names for the different ways to mine.
1) you can run mining software and connect to a pool
2) you can run a single instance of mining software on the same computer as a full node.
3) you can run your own mining pool, and connect multiple computers to it
17:54
1 hour 6 minutes till mainnet launch
17:57

1) public pool mining 2) solo mining 3) solo pool mining
Z
17:57

In reply to this message
you don't have to mine if you are running a mining pool.

It is important that you don't do (2) and (3) simultaneous with the same full node.
17:57
(1) and (3) is an ok combination.
17:58

running a mining pool but not mining is not technically mining

I think I found out why the "potential block died!" error is happening. block absorber is rescanning txs before saving the updates to the merkel tree database. If it crashes while rescanning txs, then it can cause leave the merkel tree database in a broken state.

1) single-worker solo-mining 2) multi-worker solo-mining 3) single-worker public-pool-mining 4) multi-worker public-pool-mining. However the distinction between 2 and 4 is not very valuable, so I would just eliminate 2

We should not restart. We should just change the reward, and this will show how as a community we deal with our issues with the variables, not with hardforks. This might be newsworthy also. And Great Work Zach! It's normal to have issues at such an early stage.
